Custom Bathroom Fittings

It’s amazing how towel rails and toilet roll holders can transform a bathroom from a nice space into a wonderful space. It’s not really something I would have thought makes such a difference. However, for the north container bathroom, Kevin manufactured some custom bathroom fittings and after installation I was amazed at the transformation.

Unfortunately, we were so engrossed with this project that we forgot to take photos of the construction itself. Please forgive us! However, we do have photos of the fittings up in the bathroom, as you can see, and we are sure you’re going to love them as much as we do.

Kevin has worked on similar projects before for Small Scale Engineering customers. It’s such a fun process, choosing all the components and deciding how to make them fit together to make a piece of functional art. Kevin has worked on a custom coffee table, a light fitting, and various other projects before. This time he’s applied his skills to bathroom fittings for our own home.

Decorative Steel Components

The hardest part is probably deciding what sort of direction in which to go with a custom project such as this one. There are so many options in the way of decorative steel components, so it’s easy to find something you love. But, it’s also easy to find too many things you like.

Once you have picked out the components and have the basic design in mind, you can purchase the items needed to create the custom piece. After some final designing, all that’s left is to trim to fit and weld together.

Finishing Touches

Okay, there is one more step; you will need to apply a finish in order to protect your piece from rust. This could be something like powder-coating, or as in this case, a tinted varnish. It depends on your preferences and the purpose of the object.

I think the dark metallics of the custom bathroom fittings contrasts beautifully with the white of the tiles and porcelain. It brings the bathroom to life and makes it a space to enjoy.

To “Custom Bathroom Fitting” or Not

The south container bathroom has standard commercial fittings and the north container bathroom has custom bathroom fittings. What would you choose? I’d love to know.

  1. Stunning🙌 it is the small details that make a a big difference.

    1. Cindy loves it!

  2. Looks great.

Only thing I wouldn’t be happy with are the visible screws. I probably would have tried to recess or cover, as that ruins (for me) the look.

    Bathroom looks great though.

    1. I can see your point. I suppose it really depends on what you’re looking for. We definitely did want some “industrial” aspects to our house so it suits us fine. You’re going to see a lot more industrial features as we continue with the project 🙂

  3. I love the colours too. Those almost-blacks and almost-whites – it has the smartness of black and white without the harshness. Your bathroom is really stylish!

    1. Yes, you’re right. It is a serene black & white bathroom! I didn’t really think about that before your comment.
