If you have been following our blog you’ll know that the container house reveal for the north side of our house was eminent. Well, here it is! This side is 99.9% complete. There’s a tiny bit of silicon sealing work that we must complete, and some possible snags (we shall see). But otherwise, totally live-able and super comfortable. Our hard work has paid off and Kevin and I secretly think that this might end up the most comfortable sub-section of the project.
With the sun lower in in the sky in winter, the north side at this time of year gets more sun. That means it gets the sun’s warmth in winter and stays in the shade for longer in summer. Just what you would want.

Oops! Look at that gap!
We experienced some unexpected issues when fitting the second-hand shower enclosure.
Cindy and Kevin had tonnes of fun designing and manufacturing the custom bathroom fittings.
We experimented on a new kind of wall finish using hessian, that worked out really well!
We were really excited the day we fitted the aluminium sliding door. It really opened up the space.
We were pleased with how the marble tile back splash turned out in the north container’s coffee station, and just can’t stop showing it off!

I was also surprised to see just how unique it turned out. It is so different despite being a mirror of the south side. When it’s done we’ll probably have to start on maintenance 😝
That looks incredible! There’s nothing to suggest that it was ever a container, or a building site, or even a work-in-progress. You’ve done the most astonishing job and you must be very proud of yourselves!
